It appears the problem is probably that your web browser is using all the CPU power to display YouTube's auto-playing front page. Because our web browsers don't support hardware video decoding (LP: #1424201). Your CPU is certainly new enough to do it. Your CPU is Apollo Lake generation as shown in this picture: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IntelQuickSyncVideo#YouTube So the only problem here is that Firefox would be stealing all your CPU time, which then prevents gnome-shell from responding quickly. That makes this a duplicate of bug 1424201. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1424201 Web browsers lacking hardware-accelerated video decoding -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1832816 Title: Gnome Shell is slow and stuttery while Firefox is loading/playing YouTube To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1832816/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
