you mean "smb://server/share"? because your previous paste was "gio:
file:////server/share: volume doesn?t implement mount" or does it ask
for credential after logging that error?

If you did get a different behaviour when using smb://... could you get
the GVFS_DEBUG=1 gvfsd -r log again?
