I don't believe that this is the wished behavior. You see, go back to the View menu and click other options there. Also, change from the List view to the normal icon view. ALL these options "stick", and it's only the "show hidden files" that doesn't. If it is the wished behavior, then it's a usability bug from the point of view that the other options don't behave the same, but they stick.
