Public bug reported: Also happens other people here https://askubuntu.com/questions/987821 /asus-laptop-wont-boot-to-login-screen-when-on-battery-power- after-17-10-upgrade
I tried to manually upgrade the kernel to the latest one from the ubuntu mainline. I tried to setup lightdm/gdm3 with no success. However when setting up lightdm I can access to a tty and login. The file system for some weird reason becomes read-only. If I plug the power chord and I reboot everything works fine. Lightdm comes up or gdm3 comes up depending on the setup that I made. Hope this helps ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.10 Package: gdm3 3.26.1-3ubuntu3 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-041500rc9-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.7-0ubuntu3.7 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: GNOME-Flashback:GNOME Date: Mon Jan 29 22:25:14 2018 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-03-10 (690 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.10 "Wily Werewolf" - Release amd64 (20151021) SourcePackage: gdm3 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to artful on 2018-01-27 (1 days ago) ** Affects: gdm3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug artful ** Attachment removed: "JournalErrors.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1746099/+attachment/5045203/+files/JournalErrors.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1746099 Title: On *battery* power when ubuntu 17.10 boots, after the splashscreen a black screen appears To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1746099/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
