@Chris: Your case is not a regression one, I suppose, but you rather did
something 'stupid' without realizing the consequences. ;) One way to fix
it is to make use of a bootable USB stick as I mentioned in comment #3.
That would allow you to edit /etc/default/keyboard to a layout with
which you can enter your password.
