Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I extracted a tar file and then decided to delete the tar file and its
folders, so I dragged and dropped the files in the trash. I got an
error message that the process had failed and if I wanted to restore it,
and I selected "no". At this point the trash can was gone from the tool
bar. I restarted my machine, but the trash can is still missing.

I can send files to the trash, but I don't know where it is.
