I could think of adding an <editor_pick> or similar tag to the AppStream metadata. Probably something named differently, like <favored>40</favored> (the number being some "weight" in case we want that, or have it just boolean instead? also, do we want to make this desktop-specific?)
Problem with it being in the AppStream metadata is that we can't ship banners and the like with the AS metadata, that's not it's purpose. So probably we want a different solution here, like having the stuff packaged in a .deb package. If other application centers would want this feature too, I could even imagine adding a different file-format to the AppStream spec, describing those preferences, which gets downloaded and processed via the same way our current metadata is handled. That would take some time to discuss and implement though, not sure if that's helpful for your tight schedule. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1547095 Title: Not easy to change Editor's Picks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1547095/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
