This is increadibly annoying bug. It is not related to ther gnome or unity. I'm using tiling window manager (dwm), without any desktop environment. I setup two layouts with switching and altg use, and most importantly I change Caps Lock to work as controll. Then some random time passes, BAM! all setings are reset. I manually execute comands to set correct keyboard settings, then it resets again. I can not track down what causes this, sometimes i get 5hrs without it triggering, sometimes it triggers twice in half an hour. It is incredibly interrupting to workflow. This is ther some X problem or some silinines in all new deamons being introduced. There were no such problems on 10.04. And for me at least I think that was much much rarer something like a couple of months ago, but I update raterher rarely so this is probably of little use.
