Public bug reported:

Ubuntu:14.10 Utopic
Empathy: 3.8.6-0ubuntu11

Just got an error message that suggests that "this is normally a bug":

** (empathy:6189): CRITICAL **: Unable to marshal string (not UTF-8 or OOM?):
"p\375\001\003"

** (empathy:6189): CRITICAL **: Could not marshal argument 0 for SetLocation:
type GHashTable_gchararray+GValue_, value ((GHashTable_gchararray+GValue_*)
0xab4760)
process 6189: arguments to dbus_message_iter_append_basic() were incorrect,
assertion "_dbus_check_is_valid_utf8 (*string_p)" failed in file
../../dbus/dbus-message.c line 2598.
This is normally a bug in some application using the D-Bus library.

** (empathy:6189): CRITICAL **: Unable to marshal string (not UTF-8 or
OOM?): "p\375\001\003"

** (empathy:6189): CRITICAL **: Could not marshal argument 0 for
SetLocation: type GHashTable_gchararray+GValue_, value
((GHashTable_gchararray+GValue_*) 0xab4760)

I noticed around that time(though it could be unrelated) empathy got
disconnected from my facebok account.
