The sound can be muted anyway. I should add I am using asus laptop. Soundcard is HDA NVidia (Alsa mixer) and as a track to be controlled via keyboard is selected PCM. Now, there is another problem. Today I tried it again and there is no OSD showing the volume level while adjusting the volume on keyboard. The volume is changed, but the progress isn't shown.
