Robert, Seb: you may not be on the release team, but I'm not on the Ubuntu Desktop team, which is going to have to absorb the impact of this change on libraries that you're using. Is this something that you're prepared to do, or not? I would like to be able to accomodate the Ubuntu GNOME team here, but I don't want to sign off on this change unless the desktop team has done so first, and AIUI that hasn't happened yet.
