Stephen Kun, thank you for your comments. As a considerable amount of time would be spent attempting to slipstream the mainline kernel in the live environment, it would be best to just install the mainline kernel as previously requested, and you could always boot back into your prior kernel and delete the new kernel via the instructions previously provided.
