the upstream bug applies to GNOME 3.10 and not our 3.8 version.

which might fixes the issue seen here

Do people having the issue "play" with their trackpad while the screen
is loading? it seems like it could be happening while events are mixed
on loading. Does it happen if you keep your hands off the device on
boot?
