Thanks for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. According to Debian, gdm actually needs dconf-cli instead: http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/pkg-gnome?view=revision&revision=38363
We'll still have ubuntu-gnome-desktop depend on dconf-editor though.
