I have SBLive as audio device, and 4 channel speaker(output to Front left, Front right, Rear left, Rear right).
In default configuration, just Front left, and Front right output is working, But after change output plugin pipeline to "alsasink device=surround40", all speaker output is working. See http://alsa.opensrc.org/SurroundSound FYI. And if speaker type is digital (exactly, sound card is connected to external digital amp with spdif), It need to resample audio sampling rate. Most of digital output support 48000Hz only. And it need to change output plugin pipeline to "alsasink device=spdif".
