I just posted that I was still experiencing this bug, when using 4.0.2 RC2 (as downloaded from the Pre-Releases sections of libreoffice.org).
Testing again with a locally built copy from the git repo at tag libreoffice-4.0.2.2 I find that load and save are in fact working.
