Thanks for your help to improve Ubuntu by reporting this bug! The problem with incorrect failures in accountsservice when HOME is on NFS was also reported in bug 1083605, and a fix has been uploaded to Ubuntu 13.04. I attach a patch with a fix for 12.04.
