Hi,

I have this problem too, my system is Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy PowerPc.

I've installed the required packages (nfs-common, nfs-kernel-server
(although server packages shouldn't be required for client support?))

When I Select Places->Connect to server from GNOME desktop, I only get the
following options in the drop-down:
SSH, FTP (login), Public FTP, Windows Share, WebDAV, Secure WebDAV, Custom
Location
I believe I should also get Unix Networking (NFS) as an option.

Also I believe there should be a corresponding NFS networking icon from
Places->Network Servers, which is also missing
