Ubuntu 12.10 Gedit, Ubuntu Software Center (GTK3): the mouse pointer gets hidden when I start typing. Firefox, OpenOffice (GTK2): the mouse pointer remains on screen when I start typing, even if the cursor is right above the typed text.
Seems that currently its a GTK2 problem only. Firefox is working to bring a GTK3 version. Don't know about OpenOffice or other core GTK2 apps.
