Here you are reporting 4 different problems. I think most of them are
solved or already are having their own bug reports.

There is no longer autoconnection of 3G devices, so the problems related
to that should have been solved. I think you can measure data traffic
for each network device to distinguish the wifi traffic.

If you see any of these problems in a recent Ubuntu version, please open
a terminal and type "ubuntu-bug network-manager" and please describe
only one issue.
