Public bug reported:

When playing numbers after each other (from Music library, other cases
not tested) it is starting each number on endposition of previous
listening. So when album was played before it can skips many numbers
before it meets not (completely) played numbers.

In more words:
Here sometimes Rhythmbox seems to skip numbers, but after experience this
sometimes i guess it starts number were they finished the last time. So, when a
whole set of numbers were finished on the end, what's normal when you play a
album, the next time each number is start on last stopmoment, thus starts on
the end. But it reaches of course direct the end, and move on to the next
number. So it's skipping many number before it meets a number that's was not
played ever, or only partly.

It differs from #374690. There it's starts correctly, but finish a number too
early.
