Found the problem. When booting up the default value of /sys/class/backlight/acpi_vidoe0/brightness is 0. I have updated my /etc/rc.local and have added the following line before exit 0:
echo 5 > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness. Restarted, and it works :) Not to sure if this is a bug really, or hardware specific, so please feel free to close or update the relevant packages. ** Changed in: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => Opinion -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/854185 Title: Logon screen black To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/854185/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
