Unity is also using GNOME as the main display toolkit, so even if you have not installed GNOME manually, unity depends on lots of gnome packages. However, displaying the gnome foot logo could be changed to display the Ubuntu logo, and maybe also adding the Unity version near the gnome version line, something like "Unity 5.6.0 with GNOME 3.4.0"
