Upstream comment:
Since I can't reproduce this bug here (and there seem to be no duplicates of
this occurring in Bugzilla), I think you just have the wrong values in
GSettings, (maybe they were migrated from your old GConf configuration).
You can get/set those with the command
gsettings get/set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons

Please reopen this bug in case it's still reproducible with the right GSettings
values. (change bug status to New)
