You have been subscribed to a public bug: For all users, for every USB stick I've tried. Auto-mounting when plugged in, mounting from desktop and in most applications, USB sticks are giving the error 'Unable to Mount [name] - Not Authorised'.
I can mount via when I run, for example, 'sudo palimpsest', but this isn't a useful workaround for other users who don't know command lines and want things, understandably, to 'just work'. Behaviour started soon (but not immediately) after upgrading to 10.04, within a couple of weeks or so. (Probably unrelatedly, CUPS Server is not starting on boot now either, requiring me to run 'sudo service cups start' when I power on before anyone can print. This started happening at the same time, though may very well be unrelated to this report.)
