Okay, take it back, this is definitely a gvfs bug. I must have only installed gvfs package from the previous comment and forgot to install all the dependent libraries. With a version of gvfs from natty (1.8.0-0ubuntu2) compiled for Oneiric, I can't reproduce this bug.
