Public bug reported: At least until the user created in Ubuntu is not a web user, it shouldn't be a requirement to have a complex password. The user insert the password to their desktop often and don't want to increase the chances to make typos.
This requirement is in place both in the User Accounts panel in System Settings and with the command "passwd". The work around is to remove "obscure" in line 25 of /etc/pam.d/common- password ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/939595 Title: User can't set simple passwords for his local machine To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/939595/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
