The same happens with mov files that are encoded with other codecs, e.g.
DV codec instead of mjpeg.

The problem seems to be the quicktime format, not the codec.
The "plugin" totem searches for and cannot find when I try to play the file is 
"quicktime demuxer"

And by the way this is a regression: in ubuntu 10.10 these files used to
play fine in Totem
