Ok that explains a lot of things. Indeed these files can't play in Totem. Totem can't play quicktime files at all. When I try to, it searches for a "quicktime multiplexing plugin" which it doesn't find (well whenever Totem searches for a plugin it doesn't have, I've NEVER seen it find it in my life)
