Yes, I ended up using "lp" to obtain a printout. I don't want to have to teach people how to do that. The point of having a GUI system is not having to use the command line. Gedit is the tool that opens when I click on a .txt file. Printing should be a one step operation after that. We're supposed to be making it easy for them (the command line challenged).
