Sorry but I didn't say boot loader (grub).

If I'm not mistaken a boot manager is a program running while booting
your system and turns all services on (deamons, drivers, file systems 
etc...) and then directs you to the log-in screen where you type you username 
and password and the log-in to your system.

As I read, this package was changed and the old one used in Dapper was 
left behind.

Look in ubuntu.com and ubuntuforums.org or search google and you'll
find the info I just gave you.
