** Description changed:

Up till natty (11.04), there was a gconf option reduce
brightness_dim_battery, which would cause the brightness to be lowered
- by the specified amount *as soon as* the laptop went off AC battery -
+ by the specified amount *as soon as* the laptop went off AC power -
great help for power saving! In oneiric, there is no corresponding dconf
option for the power manager - and there is no option in the gnome-
  control-center either.

The gconf option still is there, but as far as I can see it has no
  effect on the behaviour.

Note: this is a different option than dimming on idle!

  1) Ubuntu 11.10
  2) Versions:
- gnome-control-center: 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu1
- gnome-power-manager: 3.2.1-0ubuntu1
+       gnome-control-center: 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu1
+       gnome-power-manager: 3.2.1-0ubuntu1
  3) Expected behaviour:
  - I open power management options (and/or dconf) and find an option like:
reduce brightness when on battery
  4) what happened instead:
  - no such option(s)
