Public bug reported: Setting the alert volume to zero (ie, selecting the "Mute" Checkbox) in the Sound Effects tab of Sound Settings has no effect; the alert noise is still being emitted from i.e. GEdit when you try to move past the beginning of the document. This worked on Natty, not sure why it stopped working on Oneiric. This is a freshly installed system.
