@Sebastien Bacher: yes, it does. Switching to it through "xrandr -s 840x525," though, takes nearly as much as thirty seconds. Same thing for switching back to the native resolution. Switching to available-in-monitor-settings-window resolutions was almost instantaneous, conversely. However, as I previously mentioned, the desired resolution is lacking from that monitor-settings window (it was present in natty).
