The only way I found on a Ubuntu wiki is : 1. install the capplets-data package
2. execute the below command : sudo ln -s /usr/share/applications/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow/ 3. logout 4. replace the background image of the gdm greeter by a background colour 5. login again 6. execute the below command : unlink /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop 7. remove the capplets-data package and all its dependencies -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/835435 Title: gdmsetup should allow to change the image background To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/835435/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
