Public bug reported: The "speex" codec is a standard open-source codec for efficiently encoding voice. Is there any reason it isn't used, or at least offered as an option, in Gnome sound recorder? The file size is much smaller for the same quality of voice recording, and it offers discontinuous recording (no bits when there's no voice).
** Affects: gnome-media (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Gnome sound recorder's "voice" setting does not appear to use speex https://launchpad.net/bugs/73370 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
