This is getting weirder. I can get the computer to enter sleep mode by disconnecting the power if I do it this way: 1. Disconnect the power. 2. Put the computer to sleep by closing the lid. 3. Reconnect the power while the computer is sleeping. 4. Wake the computer by opening the lid. 5. Disconnect the power again.
The moment I do step 5 the computer goes to sleep again.
