I know I shouldn't recommend this, but one can manually install the most recent evince version from natty (2.32.0-0ubuntu12.2) in maverick (get it here: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/natty/+package/evince). Based on this dirty workaround, I can confirm that this issue does not appear anymore. Thanks, that saved me a lot of #*?/ยง;~.
