*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 27013 ***

I think this should be high priority - the original bug described, that
is.

I'd like to switch from Windows to Kubuntu, as well as introduce that
option to friends. However, the first thing a home user wants to do is
connect to the Internet, and most (I think) use DSL, mainly via PPPoE.

I was quite disappointed to not be able to "just select <appname> from
the menu" and get it connected. More so to tell this to the less
computer-savvy users.

I don't know this system well enough to know whether this should go in
KNetworkManager, KPPP, or a new similar KPPPoE (or whatever you'd name
it), but I think this is a must. And preferably, this GUI app would
have:

1. a dialog configuration
2. a wizard (for real newbies)
3.a tray icon which shows connection status and allows u to easily
connect/disconnect, similar to the way it works in Windows (or wireless in
KNetworkManager)...
4. this should possibly even be part of the k/ubuntu installation process -
asking how u connect to the internet (LAN, ADSL, dialup, etc.) and helping u
set up the connection as necessary.

Has there been any progress since the previous post?
