I'm suffering from this , but only with gnome-sound-recorder. arecord from the command line works fine; so does Audacity. Fiddling with alsamixer makes no difference to sound-recorder (but makes the expected differences to arecord). Machines is Acer Extensa with 64-bit Natty, lshw -C multimedia gives
