The behaviour is STILL experienced in Ubuntu 11.04. I have made no comments and updates since I've seen no work done on this issue. Still very easy to reproduce with gnome-terminal and ssh. Much harder to reproduce, but much weirder is reproducing it with Thunderbird + Enigmail + GPG. Occasionally I get the authentication pop-up without focus, but yet getting my keystrokes, the keyboard layout shows US, but the keystrokes are translated as if the layout that's active in Thunderbird was used. Needless to say multiple authentication failures are a serious nag.
