sorry about reporting this as a bug. for one reason or another, boinc/einstein@home project was using 100 percent of processor resources. i previously configured boinc to use only a certain percentage of processor core resources but at some point while i was trou lbleshooting cursor freezes, the boinc resource usage configuration was inadvertently changed.
