after thinking about it I'm not convinced that a gnomevfs issue. gnome- vfs and libgnome are non-graphical libs and there is no reason gnome- open should open a dialog. "gnome-open ftp://NON-ANONYMOUS-FTP"; complain about login failed on my desktop too. The panel places menu works fine though. Using "gnome-open ftp://user:[EMAIL PROTECTED]" works fine though. Does it work fine for you too?
