This has happened to me several times since upgrading to Edgy - though
it does not seem to be reliably reproducible.
Closing a chat window with an active messaging session in it causes the
window to go grey, but doesn't close. When the close button is then
clicked again, gaim just crashes completely.
This occasion was unusual because usually a bug report dialogue does not
appear.
