Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

using gnome-default-applications-properties opened by Preferred Applications in
the application launcher I am unable to change the web browser and the email
client.
The only option available are firefox and evolution, although I have opera and
thunderbird installed.
(I am able to change the multimedia player, terminal, visual and mobility)

Changing browser and email worked in maverick.
