As a beginner, I spent quite a lot of time to figure out why I could not browse my directories anymore. (After adding a nautilus-script to open folders with rhythmbox, it was set as the default application to launch directories). I found the mimeapps.list using grep, In my opinion, it is not very user friendly for a newbie who wants to do the same as he used to do with his/her MS file manager (right-click, open with)
