Happened upon this thread looking for information on the same bug. I've followed everything that's been said to the best of my ability (being rather new to unix) with the exception of this -proposed repository which I can't seem to find. So far it has fixed google talk but only within the gmail website, not through empathy. Every time I try to make a call through empathy it says "could not find source". Also I don't know if this is related but empathy seems to take a LONG time connecting to google talk.
