I'm not able reproduce this, just successfully connected to a vnc4server vncserver running in 10.04 using vinagre 2.30.3-1ubuntu2.
That doesn't mean its not a bug, though. @Jean-Louis, A few things things. a.) Thanks for taking the time to open the bug and find a fix! b.) the vinagre package uses quilt for patches. You should apply your changes by adding a patch to debian/patches and debian/patches/series c.)
