If I do not konw the name of the song, it makes it very difficult to find it in the Rhythmbox listing. If I rip a disk that has a fingerprint that is not recognized so no metadata is retrieved, it becomes very difficult to find what was ripped. Normally, I'd gor to the directory and search by date. Then use Picard to help find and apply the meta data.
So this is no so much a bug, but rather a feature request.
