Public bug reported: I've witnessed this issue on two separate installs of Ubuntu Edgy.
1) After setting up a password for "remote desktop" (go through the menus System>Preferences>Remote Desktop), logging in remotely will work fine until the computer is restarted. 2) When you restart the computer and log in to your profile, the authentication will fail on any attempt to remotely log in. 3) If you re-set the password, it will work again for the remainder of the current session. 4) After restarting again, it won't work again and requires you to re-set the password again to fix it, etc. Note: Yes I am even re-setting the password with the exact same password it had before. If you do not require a password it logs in remotely without an issue, but obviously for security reasons that is not a desirable workaround. Note that this behavior showed up within the past couple weeks on both boxes (one was a clean Edgy install, the other upgraded from Dapper). ** Affects: vino (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Ubuntu Desktop Bugs Status: Rejected -- vino-server doesn't remember password after reboot https://launchpad.net/bugs/66943 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
